Car will not remote start unless i have the key in off position in the ignition

i have followed the setup a couple times. and by acident i got it to remote start but it was because i had the key in the off postion but still in the ignition. so this tells me its not creating the copy of the key correctly. and now it says i have reached my dycriptor limit. when i set up to get the correct firmware it would not let me select t harness just standard wiring. not sure if this is an issue or not.
