Evo-One and SmartStart - Alarm notifications

I installed the Evo-One in my 2012 Audi A4 and I absolutely love it. You guys made a fantastic product. But I'm wondering if I install a SmartStar module, connected to the Evo-One with the data link cable, if the alarm in the Evo-One is triggered, will that information be transmitted to the SmartStart so that I can receive a notification on my phone through the SmartStart app?

Which EVO-ALARM guide is the most recent?

When I try to dpwnload guide 16221 for EVO-ALARM (as it pertains to EVO-ALL), I get a guide document labeled 12971 REV.:20140528. (from 2014?!) Is this correct? Or is there a proper/more recent version of guide 16221 somewhere? Thank you.

Hoodpin configurations

I have read a number of posts regarding the hood pin but it seems that they discuss which wire to connect to in order to be a kill switch for the Evo One remote start function. As I understand it, the Evo One A8 pin (dk blue wire) is the trigger for the kill function. I would also like this hood pin to trigger the alarm feature within the unit in case someone opens the hood while the system is armed. What would be the correct wire to connect the hood pin to in this case and can I use one wire from the hood pin and connect it to both the A8 wire and the alarm trigger wire within the chasis of the vehicle in order to have both the remote start kill and the opened hood while armed alarm.

FAQ: How do I know/how to test if my vehicle has an OEM alarm.

Just figured I would post this as I have often been asked...

" How do I know/how to test if my vehicle has an OEM alarm?"

Really simple to check, perform the following test:.

1- Put down the drivers window.

2- Ensure all doors are closed, including the hood and trunk.

3- Lock the vehicle using the OEM remote.

4- Wait between 45-60 seconds after you have locked the vehicle to allow the system to arm itself.

5- Once you have waited the time period reach inside the drivers door and open the drivers door from the inside handle. (basically replicating someone trying to steal your belongings/vehicle).

6- At this point your alarm will either go off or it won't, answering the question if your vehicle is equipped with a factory alarm!

Side note: good way to also test to see if your vehicle has a factory hood pin that is part of the alarm system is to do the above test but instead of opening the door first, reach in and pull the hood release latch. (useful on newer Mazda vehicles with factory hood pins that are part of the OEM alarm). If no alarm goes off, then open the drivers door. If the alarm goes off when you open the drivers door and not when you open the hood. Then this answers your question if the factory hood pin is part of the alarm system.
